ABOUT HORNSBY

Hornsby is a suburb that lies 25 kilometres north-west of the Sydney CBD and is part of Hornsby Shire Council.

Transport

Hornsby station is a junction of the Northern Line and the North Shore line of the City Rail network. There are frequent railway services to the Sydney CBD via Epping or via Chatswood. Hornsby is also a transport junction where Intercity and Express trains stop on the way to the Central Coast, Newcastle and further north. Bus services also operate from Hornsby to local areas.

Just a couple of minutes’ walk from Avanti Apartments is Hornsby’s Westfield shopping centre that was one of the first suburban shopping centres when it opened in 1961. It was redeveloped in 2001 and includes major retailers (David Jones, Myer, Target, K-Mart, Woolworths, Coles and Aldi), a vast array of specialty shops and a nine cinema complex.

Hornsby library is located in Hunter Lane about 100m from the Burdett St building. In addition to reading material, DVDs, Audio books and it also has a roster for Justices of the Peace who can witness and certify documents.
